Poultry Producers Association (PPA) met
The Poultry Producers Association held a meeting on February 11, 2010. Discussions revolved mainly around increasing enquiries with regard to poultry farming. As this is a highly intensive industry with high input costs (especially the feeding costs), it should be seriously considered before starting poultry farming.
Mr Jaco Labuschagne informed the meeting about the purchasing of a 28ton lorry for Feedmaster. At the same time a complete new disinfectant system was installed at the factory (with regard to the HACCP system). Feedmasteer undertook to provide their drivers and lorry operators with gumboots and producers are requested to install foot-bath systems to promote bio-security on their farms.
The broiler project is still planned for Namibia, with the emphasize to ensure that this industry arm will be financially viable even in the absence of possible “Infant Industry Protection” measures.
The member meeting is scheduled for Friday, March 26, 2010 in Windhoek. Proposals for subjects for discussions are welcome and all interested parties are welcome (members and non-members) Final arrangements will be announced in due course.
