Hunting season opens on May 1, 2018

The Minister of Environment and Tourism has announced on April 13, 2018 that the 2018 hunting season will be from May 1 until August 31. This is for farms bigger than 1 000ha which are enclosed with game-proof fences as well as conservancies whose quotas have been approved for huntable game species. For farms bigger than 1 000ha which are enclosed with normal livestock fence the hunting season is from June 1 until July 31.

Hunting permits are issued to the owner or lessee only and in case of a conservancy to the conservancy committee and cost N$100 per permit.

Three large game species or two large game species and four small game species or one large game specie and eight small game species or 12 small game species may be hunted. Large species are Kudu, Oryx and Red Hartebeest and small species are Springbok and Warthog. However, only one Kudu per person may be shot during the hunting season this year.


AEA Congress
The 31th annual congress of the Agricultural Employers Association (AEA) will take place on 12 June 2018 at 08:00 at Arebbush Lodge, Windhoek. The theme this year is “AGRICULTURE: CAREER OF CHOICE” and various expert speakers will address the congress, namely Mr. René Olivier (IJG Wealth Management); Mr. Schalk Pienaar (Talent Executive: Pupkewitz Holdings); Mr. Faan Oosthuizen (Critical Mass) and Mr. Johan Deysel (Amos Namibia: Meerkat schools). The congress documents will be sent electronically by email to participants once the office has received their registrations.


NAU AgriBraai
Attention Farmers Associations!! Accept this challenge and take part in the NAU AgriBraai which is hosted by the Kalahari Oos FA on May 25 & 26, 2018 at the Gobabis Show Grounds. The theme is “Cattle Country Cowboy” and on May 26 at 12:00 there will be a game auction. On May 25 at 09:00 is a “bake off”, namely participants are required to bring their best carrot cake. A bow shooting competition will be held and there is a fun park for the children. Die Broers and Die Campbells will entertain everybody and entries for the braai competitions close on April 30.
